The votes are in and the winner is....

Sixty people have voted and it looks like the majority of hexaculturalists would like to send 2 a month to the same person.

Remember, in a hex-ocracy, we are entitled to express our freedom of choice, so if you still want to send one. Just do it!

Thank you Natasha

I came home today to find  a nice envelope on the kitchen table waiting for me and it was from Natasha

Look it's my April Hexie !!
Picture dosen't give it justice .. My flower is a beautiful red floral with a light yellow center. It is just perfect for my growing garden !
Thank you Natasha.     I Love it  :)

Flower from Barbara

Today I received the most beautiful turquoise flower in the mail with a card from Eastern Beach in Victoria. Thank you Barbara, I love it.

Hexaflowers sent and received

I know I'm late, much too late, but today I have finally sent the hexaflower for the february swap to Joanne.
So Joanne: you know it's coming your way!
I also made and sent the marchflower to Edda Bjork in Iceland. No pictures of the sent flowers included, because I can imagine that the ladies like it to be kind of a surprise what the postman will bring to them.

But I do have a picture for you of the lovely flower I received from Doris (march swap). An adorable flower Doris and you were the first one to add your name and country in the centre. Love it!

Marchflower from Doris.

And did I already show you the beautiful februaryflower I received from Rosa-Munda? I don't think so, so here it is:

February flower from Rosa-Munda

That's it for now. Happy hexing! Joke.

March hexie from Sunny

Thank you Sunny, for my two beautiful hexies. They arrived today and I love both of them. You are the first to make a purple one as well as a blue and yellow one.The gift tag with it is cute too. At the moment life is throwing me a lot of scraps so I need to make a hexie quilt! The tag reads "When life throws you scraps make a quilt" Sorry the colours are a bit duller in the photo than in the real hexies.

From Karyli to Shannon

Ha! Ha! LOLOLOL!!! Hee! Hee! Ho! Ho! Why am I laughing well I have this neighbor, she is great!! She and I share a passion for quilting. We are both a part of this group. We both are so happy making hexie flowers every month. Well it was going to happen eventually. I just did not think it would happen right off. She had me this month. She brought over a wonderful plate of cookies.
I think I ate most over them over three days.

And she brought me not one...

not two...

but three hexie flowers!!!
I love them all! Thank you Karyli!!

I have posted my two March flowers away today

Thanks Lene!

I received a lovely pink hexi from Lene in Denmark. Thanks so much, it is very pretty!

Catching up!

Okay, so I have fallen behind a bit in my hexies (hard to hand sew while driving over 2000 miles in two weeks!!) I am all caught up now though, and getting them in the mail today or tomorrow!
For Maria H (February), I didn't forget about you!! Here is one of the hexie flowers I made for you:
I made others but forgot to take a pic before I sealed the envelope!

For Quiltjane (March), I made this one:
There are SLIGHT differences from the petals... Fussy cutting the hexies was harder than I expected! I hope this is to your liking. I know it's a little... noncolorful... but I saw this FQ at a quilt shop in Kansas City and I thought it would look really neat in a hexie for you!

And these are the gorgeous and super bright hexies I received from Ros in the UK this month:

I love this swap!!

For Jane and Linda

Today I posted off a thank-you hexie for our ever-helpful Jane. Hope you like it when it arrives,  Jane.  And on February 23rd I posted one to Linda.  It was for the March swap but as it had to cross the ocean I posted it early so that it would arrive in early March.  I would love to know if it arrived safely and if I sent the right one - I didn't keep a record of what I had sent so I'm hoping to hear from Linda to see if it needs replacing.

Thank you Hexies from Shruti and Karyli

Shruti must be a mind reader. I love this print. Thank you.

The green is perfect and the fussy cut medallions are just gorgeous. Thank You Karyli.

Double Sided Hexagon Tutorial

I found these great tutorials which show you how to make a completed hexagon quilt with top, wadding and backing all in one go - and Very clever.

Flowers arrived

Here are some pictures of the flowers that I received.
Thanks all!

I am not at my laptop next to the hexagons so I cannot say who gave which one . . . with any accuracy at spelling names correctly. I love them all!

From the Jane's and the hexi deliemma!!!!

This is the beautiful hexi I recieved from Jane in Indinana
and these two lovely's from our hexi Queen Jane
The card has the most beautiful quilts on it. I would like a couple of them for my bed!!!

This is my little collection of flowers which is the ones I have recieved from both the swaps I'm in and the ones I have made my self. I have seen a nice quilt in the Vingette mag that I would like to make out them. There is 41 flowers on this pile and the 'single' quilt in the mag has 149 flowers and I think 57 white embroidered connecting hexis........2 deliemmas 1 is that I would want a double or queen to go on my own bed..... and deliemma two is I have had this crazy idea of making my Aunt a quilt for her 50th which I would use 50 flowers and add another round of green then a round of white.... now that's all good and well but obviously I would have to take out all the ones I have recieved from you and all the green ones leaving me with only 22 lovely little flowers. I think it is going to take me years to get my own hexi madness quilt!!!! What would you do????

Till next time Geniene

My flower garden!

Hi all,

I received my March flower from Narelle, it is gorgeous!

And here is a picture of my garden so far -

I haven't received a February flower yet....just a friendly reminder! or let me know if it is posted and I will keep checking the letter box!

I have been thinking about the problem we have sometimes with colours and maybe if we keep Flickr updated with our growing gardens and even post a photo or mosaic of fabric/colours we like it might be helpful. I know I find it a bit tricky trying to decide what to use each month.

Just thought I'd put that out there for everyones opinion!

Cheers, Jess

From Sandy in March

Many thanks Sandy for this richly coloured flower to spice up my garden.
You must have better than 50/50 vision to do such tiny stitches.  They are so neat I can hardly see them.  I have visions of you sleeping soundly at night while some little elves sit cross-legged on your table and do this beautiful stitching.  I am going to have to pull up my socks !  Seriously, I'd be interested in knowing what sort of thread you use. Perhaps a silk thread ?

I forgot to include your pretty card in the photo with its Australian coastal theme. Many thanks.

March flower...

...arrived today!
This lovely flower from Pia in Denmark

I'm now beginning to think about how I will put the flowers
together!!  I love it...exactly what I had in mind!
best wishes Christine

Understanding Colours

I am having trouble understanding members descriptions of the colours they need in their hexie flowers.  In fact, I think I may have already made a boo-boo in one of the hexies I have sent out. I know what red and white are, or any colours and not brown, but I flounder with some of the descriptions. For example, is the following modern, or is it fluoro ? Or is it both ?

What colours belong to the Modern Range ?  And if you are asked for Civil War or Reproduction fabrics do they have to be exact or just follow the general idea of the range ?

I buy fabrics because I like the look of them and don't take any notice of what range they might belong to so I really don't know what bits and pieces I have.  I just like their colours.  But it's no good sending someone a hexie if it's not something they can use.

Perhaps other newbies might be having this trouble too but I've been reading down the list  to see what might lie ahead.

I had thought that the old suit hanging in my wardrobe was shabby chic.  But now it seems that shabby chic means pretty roses.  But then again I could be wrong on that too !

A little rainbow from Shannon

Yesterday's mail came and I got my beautiful Hexi Flower from Shannon.
I love it !   I love the colors and the way the petals meet each other. Really  nice job with the fuzzy cutting ( something I need to try )
and she also sent a nice postcard of Idaho's Sawtooth Mountains beautifly covered with snow.
Thank you Shannon !!

And then there were 3

Don't they look beautiful together?
Have a Happy sewing day

Welcome pack

I am so sorry that I keep forgetting to take a photo of the lovely flower that I received from the group mom - thank you so much for the flower and the hexagons. What a fun packet to open!

Hexie on its way to the UK

A little hexie
and one just like it
getting ready to fly
to Rosa Munda
in the UK.

She likes blue and green and though the photo doesn't show it, there's a nice play of the green with a star against the floral with the green stems.

Since I've revealed the flower, I won't give away what else will be in the packet.

March Hoppy flower

Today's mail brought me a lovely blue hexagon flower with little bunnies from Linda at Stray Stitches. Thank you Linda! It goes well with the other flowers I have received.
I'm sorry the photo is not straight. I realized too late. I'm not very computer techy!
Jane in Indiana

Flowers from Joanne

I spied some flowers on Joanne's blog last week ready for posting, and wished for one to land in my mailbox.

What a lovely surprise when I found not one but two gorgeous flowers, a lovely card and a pack of templates. Thankyou so much Joanne ... I've embroidered your name on a flower and I love using your templates for the hexies.
