Congratulations Hanne, I will post your fabric strips soon.

I have decided to host a giveaway for the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap members. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post about your choice of your favourite fabrics for making hexies. The winner will receive a collection of 2.5" strips from my stash collection ( and believe me my stash is embarrassingly big and varied - I am addicted to fabric ).

I will randomly select a winner at the end of the month.

  1. I don't really have a favourite, for some funny reason I asked all the girls to make "fresh modern" flowers yet the ones I myself had started are more "country" colours. I do prefer fresh modern colours though!

  2. As I am new to making hexies as long as the template fits on the fabric that suits me fine.I am enjoying making fussy cut ones using the template so I suppose fabric that lends itself to that is likely to become a favourite.

  3. My favorite fabric is bright prints that I can fussy cut.

  4. When I first started making hexies I did not have a favorite choice of fabric, unless scrap pieces count. I like fussy cut ones but sometimes they are too hard to do. Really, anything goes.

  5. I love all fabrics and would be really hard pressed to choose a favorite...EXCEPT,,,if it had small butterflys on ,,,then it would win me,Like my swapping buddies I am enjoying the fussy cutting too..so that would be a plus....

  6. I received a bunch of scraps from a kaleidoscope quilt class and am making kaleidoscope hexies right now. I love them!

  7. Am quite happy to use bright colours for give-away hexies but when making for myself I mostly lean towards the more muted colours, whether they be dark or light. I call them off-beat colours for want of a better word.

  8. It must be contagious, I'm making kaleidoscope hexies too, using Park Avenue by 3 Sisters. Thank you for having a giveaway Jane - you are so good to us .

  20. Oooh, a giveaway from your own stash! Awesome... you have such great fabric choices always so this prize will be a treat!!! My favourite fabrics are a little bit of anything! lol I have noticed that I tend to be a bit brave in my own hexies for myself and am putting together some old and new and modern and traditional... I think I shall call it faspa! Faspa is the late afternoon meal in a German Mennonite home and Grandma always served a little bit of this and that. Ahh, the memories!

Thanks for the chance to win, Jane! You are the Hostess With The Mostest! (That's a Canadian compliment!!!)

  23. When I joined the 1” hexie flower swap I asked for reproduction fabrics, and I have received some very gorgeous ones from my swap partners – I am not quite sure how to use them, but I am sure I will know when I have a garden full!
But I also like colourful fabrics and have just purchased some Kaffee Fasset fabrics for one of my next hexie swap partners (guess who).
I think your giveaway is very generous – and I hope I will be the lucky one.
    Best regards

  25. I make my hexies from any fabric that appeals to me so I guess my hexies are made from scrappy fabrics. I'd love to win your scrappy fabric. Thanks for the opportunity.

  26. I can tell you my anti-favorite is denim. I made a baby quilt out of hex flowers for my nephew's baby and it was a challenge and a half to do it. Though recycled, the denim was heavy and wasn't the most fun to hand sew. I did, though, love working with the cotton fabric that I used as flower centers and binding. So maybe I do have a favorite! Light cottons and cotton blends.

  27. I love making hexies, and I'll use any fabric! I'm addicted to buying fat quarters, so I'm always looking for something new to play with. Most of mine are from my scraps, so they tend to be the muted, romantic fabrics. thaks Jane, for a great tiveaway.

  28. Thanks for hosting the swap! I am up for any type of fabric for my hexis. I am falling in love with some of the Japanese fabrics. I love the mushrooms and gnomes!

  29. I would love to win this lovely giveaway, but it's not enough, I never win anything.
In Denmark we have a proverb which says: "we can not have good luck in both games and love"

I have a lovely man, that's probably why rush never win anything.

It is the first time I sew hexagons, and I have been ecstatic with them. So I have no favorite fabrics yet, just I have to sew Hexie, then I'm happy.

And slightly dependent are we suppose all

  30. My favorite fabric for my hexagon flowers were like the fabrics used in a Grandmother's Garden quilt that I've seen. It is combining my love for fabric and flowers!! Can NEVER have enough fabric but you cannot always have enough room!!

I'm anxious to sew the hexagon flowers for the next months. I find myself looking ahead to get ideas. Thanks again Jane, for the hexagon swap and now the stripe giveaway!!

  32. Favourite fabric for hexies? um?? Don't really have any at the moment, but I do love the idea of the little owl in the outer petals. And I have heaps of jelly rolls, so might try that, too. I like the smaller prints, I think. That would be my choice at the moment. *smile*
