May and June Hexies, from and to Portugal

Hi friends
I´m feeling a little worried because I get no news from my partners, specially Beverly, to whom I sent May flowers on 13 May.....!
I´ve e_mailed her twice but.... no answer.

Also June flowers sent to Cathy. By the same time I´ve sent a pack to New Zealand and it got there a long time ago....

On the other side, May flowers from Ros UK and June´s from Alana (Australia)... not yet in Lisbon...
and I know they have been sent a long time ago, also.
Did they met on the way and decided to go on Holiday????

a little wish........

I was wondering.....
My garden is slowly growing with help from all you lovely fellow-swappers. I don´t keep the envelopes, but put the flowers in one large stack.
I can point out which flowers I made myself and the ones I received through the swap - BUT  I realise that I don´t know from whom I received most of the flowers. So here is my little wish:
Please write your name and country on the backsite of the flowers.........

My garden has its first two flowers!

Look at these gorgeous flowers from Edda!
As a new member these are my first two flowers! I think these will be a great way to start growing a garden! Thank you Edda! And for the lovely post card too.

My garden

I've been very slack with communication and posting photos, so I thought I should at least post a photo of my garden!  It's the first time my flowers have all been together, as I like to keep them in their envelopes so I can remember where they came from.

Here is my cherry blossom garden:

I'm always interested to see how people have interpreted my "pink" theme.  Several of the flowers that have arrived are not what I would have thought of but I love them just the same!

Here are the flowers I received before I decided on my cherry blossom theme:
There are some beautiful ones in there, just not sure what I'm going to do with them yet ;)

And here is my stack of cherry blossoms once I packed them up.  I thought it looked really pretty so wanted to share.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to my garden, and thanks in advance to those who will in the future.

I forget how long I've been in this group until I pull out my box of squishes and realise how many flowers I've collected!

Here is the Dear Jane quilt I made all in Civil War Reproduction fabrics

Sorry realized after posting this is the unquilted top but I have actually finished it and it now belongs to my son and daughter in law who have a great appreciation and love for such items.
Some of my Civil War fabrics

The original Dear Jane quilt was of course made with Civil War fabrics as it was made during the Civil War

Civil War fabrics are reproduction fabrics from the Civil War years.

Judie Rothermel,  Jo Morton, Barabara Brackman and others are known for their reproduction ranges.

I will post a picture soon.  It is currently downloading from my phone

May Hexies

My lovely May hexies from Susan in Mississippi.  Thankyou

Civil War fabrics

Hi all,

Cindy sent me the following e-mail.  Since I am about as much in the dark as she is about civil war fabrics I am putting this out there for others who know more about it to respond.

Hi Friends,
Please forgive my ignorance--what exactly are Civil War Fabrics?? If someone could post a picture of a few it would be helpful. I asked my local--very small quilt store and they pulled out a few fabrics with no rhyme or reason and said they may be considered Civil War Fabrics. Is it the muted coloring that makes it a Civil War Fabric or is it the design. Are they small florals  or larger prints. Please friends I would love some guidance  here. I have notice that several swappers want Civil War Fabrics--I would love to get it right!
Thanks so much--I'm happy to be part of such a talented group of 'stitchers'!!

Thank you to others who answer!!

June swap list

Hi all you hexie swappers,

The June list has been sent.  As always please check the information for both who you are sending to and receiving from and let me know if there are any mistakes.  Also let me know if your name is on the list and is not supposed to be, or if you should have received the list and didn't .

We are saying good-bye to Joanne from the Possom Blossom Patchwork store this month.  She still has the store and sells the hexie papers and precuts, but is so busy with her market sales that she doesn't have time to sew them :)

I thought I would show the hexies I made for the Get Your Hex On  Flickr swap that some of us are involved with.  I made these complex little babies for the April swap and they were surprisingly easy to do.

Of course Blogger has turned the photo on its side and they look totally weird!  :)

Have a great month everyone.  It is summer where I live and I'm enjoying the weather.
