June hexies received

Coralie lives just down the coast from me.... well maybe a couple of thousand kilometres down the coast, but I am pretty sure she is the closest inchy hexagon swapper to me.  All this to say that she sent me lovely second round hexies for June.

One set is sewn to its flower...

It is really amazing to me how I have the perfect flowers to go with every set of second round hexies I receive.  This flower was made for me by Grit.

Coralie sent a gorgeous second set of hexies and I have a flower all picked out and ready to sew them to.... but I have lost one of the hexies....  I have shamelessly asked Coralie if she will send me another one...

Here are eleven of them all their prettiness...

And then Coralie sent me another strip to use for a third round of hexies.  I haven't cut into it yet, but here it is in all its beauty...

Thank-you Coralie!  My Grandmother's Flower Garden is inching its way into existence (Ho, ho, I couldn't help it...).

Swapper Profile - Diane!

This week we are saying hello to Diane...and here she is...

"Online I usually go by DianeM.

Although I grew up in West Irondequoit, a suburb of Rochester, NY,  I now live in Northern NJ with my DH of 30 years & our 2 children ages 23 & 17. Our daughter is currently working on her post-graduate teacher's license and our son is extremely thrilled to have just finished his junior year of high school. I work during the school year as a paraprofessional at a local middle school. We just finished up last week and I am still celebrating the start of my summer...woohoo!

I LOVE all types of needle arts and all types of crafting. I am forever starting new projects & buying more supplies for more future projects...it's an addiction! I also enjoy reading, watching classic movies, and keeping up with my online friends through blogs & pinterest.

If I could have one wish granted it would be to live on Cape Cod crafting my days away <3

-I tried to attach a picture but it 's at the bottom, I couldn't get it to attach up here with my reply...obviously I'm NOT computer savvy!"

You may not think you're computer savvy Diane, but I got your photo anyway. :)   LOOK at Diane's lovely pink hexie quilt!

Thanks for sharing with us Diane - about yourself and your fabulous quilt!  It is lovely to find out more about you.

Hopefully EVERYONE will drop in and say hi!

Swapper profile - Coralie!

This week we are meeting Coralie, a fellow Canadian!!

Coralie lives in North Saanich, British Columbia.  I took this beautiful photo from the District of North Saanich website.

Here is what Coralie has to say.

"A little about me.  I have been quilting since about 1990.  I took a quilting class and attended a guild meeting and was hooked.  The colours and piecing were a passion for some time and now I have graduated to applique and more hand work.

I have been chairman of the baby quilt committee for the Victoria Quilter's guild for over 10 years now.  We cut fabric for kits and guild members piece them, then we bundle the tops with batt and backing to be quilted.  The quilts go to babies in the neonatal ICU, we have given up to 500 quilts each year.  Most of my quilting has been for the babies.

Recently I took a class by Ann Shaw who teaches the method that Ruth MacDowell developed and taught before she retired.  Check out Ann and Ruth's websites.  Ann is a super teacher if you get the opportunity to take one of her classes, you will likely enjoy it.

I taught Home Economics to grades 8 - 10,  then I worked at drafting diagrams for publication for scientists at the Institute of Ocean Sciences.  I also worked at the local salvation Army store for several years.  I enjoy checking out thrift stores.

I am married and we have one son.  He and his wife have a daughter who will celebrate her 1st birthday at the end of June.  We live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, it is a very beautiful place with the most temperate weather in Canada.  Our son lives in Ontario over 3000 km. away so we see them only once or twice a year

Coralie"

Coralie, how lovely to get to know you.  Maybe I'll get down to Vancouver Island sometime and we can meet up.  I must get some info from you on neonatal quilts as I have a premie nephew who I would like to make a quilt for.

I hope everyone will drop by and say hello to Coralie.
