Mail call for Kris Young

Kris--you have a little package in the mail. Kris only lives about 100 miles away from me so the package should get there soon. We both live it Utah--a beautiful state!

Thank You Lynette Peters!

What a delight! Theses beautiful dotted hexies arrived from Australia. Thank you Lynette. These will certainly add beauty to my dotted hexie garden. I'm amazed at the fine sewing skills of the gals in this group.

I have a special place in my heart for anyone from Australia. My daughter spent 18 months in Australia as a missionary for our church, the Mormons. She made so many friends and was treated with such love and kindness. We love Australia!
Thank you Lynette Peters.

Huge thanks to Gayle

Today a lovely parcel arrived at my place.
Three beautiful flowers and a really delightful hexie card.  Thank you so much Gayle.  I love them.

Hexies from Jennifer in Queensland

Yesterday I received my August hexies from Jennifer in Queensland for which I thank her most sincerely.   They are beautifully made.

Also included with my hexies was this beautiful hand made card.

And also included was this fantastic needle holder which she has embroidered with an 'S'.  I just love the embroidered flower in the corner which so much looks like a sunflower.

This needle holder will be so handy for me as I store my needles on small pieces of paper for each project.

I feel so honored to have received such beautiful extras with my August hexies.

Thank you Jennifer.

Happy stitching to all.
Simone

Hexies to Australia

My hexies for Christine Holmes in Australia are packed and ready to take to the post office tomorrow morning.  Hope you like them Christine and that the red is right.

Swapper profile - Gayle!!

"Hi my name is Gayle Arnold.  We live in Ohio and are having great cooler temps at the moment."

What I found out about Gayle's town is that it is an unincorporated community and was originally a Welsh settlement, started in 1801.  However the post office and the Old Welsh Cemetery are both called Paddy's Run.  And... they celebrate everything strawberry the second Saturday in June every year during the Old Fashioned Strawberry Festival.

Photo from the Butler County web site http://www.gettothebc.com/listings/Paddy-s-Run-Old-Welsh-Cemetery/1134/
More from Gayle...

"I have been married for 41 yrs. and have two sons.  Both are married and have children. The oldest, Matthew, has a 6 year old son, Austin, and a 6 month old son, Kolton.  Scott has a son, 21 month old Blake, who is a sweet little boy.

We are heading west to visit my sister who is sick and it will be a one time trip for us.

I am retired from the post office and love being home just to do whatever and when I WANT TO DO IT.  I worked outside the home for 34 years so I did my part.

I am putting my hexie quilt together at this time.  I started on 4-27 and at the end of July just have 3 ends and the top and bottom inserts to fill in. I love it.  All by hand but my hands really hurt from arthritis and it has really flared up so hoping the vacation trip will help it to rest.

I baby sit one day a week and keep the 6 year old Austin a week  for 3 months during the summer because they live about 3 hours away and don't see them often.  He is fine normally; not a bad kid but they all have their days.

My youngest son is starting a business as an  auctioneer so I have made him some sign covers and table cloths.
I make small quilts for children with our quilt guild.  They are given to the pregnancy center, local police and sheriff and life squad so I enjoy making them.   Then a friend, Jane  Kerr, quilts them and I bind them so its a fun project and good to help others.

Gayle"

I am so pleased to have you in the swap Gayle.  I really hope you will show us some photos of your quilt.  Please email them to me if you want and I will post them for you.

And I hope you will get to meet some of our other swappers when they come by to say hi to you.  Have a great trip out west!

July hexies from Rosalie

I received these second round hexies from Rosalie a few weeks ago but I'm only getting to posting now.  I wanted to sew them on their flowers first and I just have not been sewing very much lately. :(  But that's because it is summer and I am busy. :)

Here are the lovely second round hexies I received from Rosalie.

Gorgeous, no?  I am always amazed that there is a perfect flower for each set of second round hexies.

Thanks Rosalie!!

I forgot to mention that the orange, blue and white flower was made for me by Maggie.

August lists sent and Swapper Profile - Marie

Hi everyone,

I have sent out the August lists.  Please let me know if you think you should have received them but didn't.

Three of our swappers are saying good-bye this month - Dawn, Susan and Anette.  But we have three new swappers joining us so our numbers remain the same!  Please say hello to Di, Penny and Wendy.

This week our profiled swapper is Marie.

Marie lives in Krusa, Denmark.  Here is some of what Wikipedia has to say about the town. "Kruså ...is a Danish border town and border crossing with a population of 1,618 ..., six kilometers north of Flensburg, situated on the European route E45. It is located in Aabenraa Municipality(prior to the Municipality Reform of 2007 in Bov municipality).
On April 9, 1940, at 4:15 am German troops crossed the border here beginning the invasion of Denmark.
Until the opening of the freeway border crossing at Frøslev Kruså was the most important crossing over land to Germany."
Not a lot of information but here is a lovely photo of the area - taken from a site about a "border run".

Here is what Marie tells us about herself.
"I Marie Christensen are 63 years old / retired, have made patchwork for 15 years .
I am married and have 4 sons and 8 grandchildren from 4 to 16 years old.
I enjoy wery the hexies have been with the group for 3 years i nearly have hexies to a little carpet.
I also knit very much, i enjoy making all things with my hands.
I am not so good at englich, but i hope you can get the point of my words."

I am impressed with your English Marie.... So much better than my Danish!  I am so happy that you are in the swap and to get to know more about you.

I hope everyone will come by and say hello.

Janet
